President's Message - Giselle Carson
A personal contact continues to be crucial for success in today's marketplace. During our June professional networking event, members and friends of the FCHCC had a unique opportunity to personally connect and learn at the South Atlantic bourgeoning port for shippers, JAXPORT.
Attendees learned about a wide variety of jobs and business opportunities with the port and related companies. With the arrival of the first Mitsui cargo from Asia this month, jobs and business opportunities with the port will continue to flourish. We thank Joanne Kazmierski, Manager of Community Outreach & Environmental Advocacy at JAXPORT, for an educational and relationship building experience, and wish her and the port much continued success.
Great appreciation to FCHCC board members Jose Rodriquez with Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBSFL) and Nelson Estepa with Garber Automotive who worked tirelessly to facilitate a very instructive Talleres de Negocios. I also extend a warm recognition to those that made this event possible: BCBSFL, Brunet-Garcia, Wachovia, Zumac Peruvian Restaurant, Cristina Parcell (HQ), Dominic Orsinic (SBDC), Carmen Rosa Brooks (OptaComp), Julio Rodriguez (BCBSFL), Eddie Suarez (SunTrust), Anna Grogan (Best Buy), Nancy Alvarez (SBA), Pedro Rodriquez (COJ), Tobias Wu (Business Consultant), Mike Jorgensen (attorney) and the Hispanic Media (Hola News - Latino Hits 1160AM, Norsan communications, La Plaza and Mi Hogar) that helped distribute the message.
Looking forward to connecting in July and Happy 4th of July!
Giselle

Florida KidCare Outreach Offers Insurance Plan for Children
Florida KidCare offers families a comprehensive plan for their children that they either pay nothing for or about $15 to $20 a month to cover all of their children until age 19.
All that is needed to apply for the program is the social security numbers of the children with the application and the parent's income information. The application does not require the parents to have or share their social securities numbers. To qualify it only depends on the parent's income and the size of the family. The outreach focus is to the Hispanic community of Jacksonville. Materials are available in English and Spanish.
Please contact Molly Ness at mness@nefhsc.org, if you know of any businesses or healthcare facilities that could use these materials.
