If you want to continue to build connections and re-enforce relationships, please visit us on Facebook and LinkedIn.  Although our webpage, e-newsletter and networking events will continue to be the primary vehicles used to communicate with our members and friends, our page on these networking sites will provide and added opportunity for building your business contacts.

Thank you to Honda at the Avenues for hosting and providing the FCHCC with a great venue for the Program "Doing Business with the Government".  Thank you also go to our guest speakers, Nancy Alvarez-Hernandez, Cesar Matos and Ken Middleton, whose practical and educational contributions were invaluable to our members and guest.  See photographs from this meeting in this newsletter.

The law touches everyone every day, and affects us all!  It influences our immigration policy, financial health, family life, and many others.  To continue to educate our members and friends, this month, we are partnering with Jacksonville lawyers to bring you four instructive seminars and discussions in various legal topics.  For additional information see calendar of events in this e-newsletter. Look forward to seeing you  there! And Feliz Cinco de Mayo y Dia de las Madres!

Board Member's Message - Jose Lopez
Jose LopezMy affiliation with the FCHCC began back in 2005 when I was a student at the University of North Florida. I was the recipient of the UNF Latin American and Caribbean Scholarship, which required 20 hours of volunteer community service per semester. Fortunately, I was recommended the FCHCC. The Board and its members granted me a wonderful opportunity to get involved, develop community programs, and network in a professional environment.

Today, I am proud to introduce myself as your Treasurer. In 2008, the Board nominated me as a candidate to assume the position and since then, I have put forth my efforts to improve our accounting records and to keep our Board of Directors well informed of our financial status and compliance with tax laws and regulations.

This year we have invested time and capital in our organization's infrastructure in order to offer better services and operate in a more efficient and dynamic way. I am proud to work with extraordinary individuals within this organization and together we work as a team to accomplish the organization's goals and objectives we establish at the beginning of each year.

One of the events, I personally enjoy the most from the FCHCC, is our scholarship luncheon. Last year, the FCHCC Community Development Fund offered 6 scholarships to prominent Hispanic students in the state of Florida. I was proud to be part of the organization offering the awards and see the direct results of our team efforts by contributing with the future of those students.

I would like to express my appreciation to all you for becoming a member of this unique organization and I look forward to having the opportunity to meet each of you in our monthly networking events.

Sincerely,
Jose V. Lopez

Membership Spotlight - Carmen Sostre,
 AAA Auto Club South
Lennys Campos picMy name is Carmen Sostre, I was born in Arecibo Puerto Rico and relocated to Florida in 1991 with my husband Tony and two kids (Issie & Jonathan). While working a part-time job and raising the kids, I challenged myself to continue my education in Travel & Tourism Management at Phillips Junior College in Melbourne, Florida graduating with honors in 1994. I was fortunate to begin my career with AAA Auto Club South as seasonal help in Melbourne, Florida and a year later I was promoted to a Senior Counselor. Since then I've progressed within the company and I am currently the Assistant District Manager at the Ponte Vedra office.

AAA was founded in 1902 and it is one of the largest membership organizations in the world. Committed to providing safety, security and peace of mind to nearly 50 million members, AAA offers its members an incredible array of outstanding savings and services.  Auto Club South is proud to serve AAA Members and residents of Florida, Georgia, Middle & West Tennessee, and Puerto Rico.
I am known for the dedication, passion and integrity in providing the staff with a unique experience at work and total satisfaction to members of the association.  It has been rewarding!  Our office has won 4 Customer Service Awards.

I have been an active member of the community and many organizations such as: Cystic Fibrosis, Walking for Cure, American Heart Association, First Jacksonville Puerto Rican Parade, Safe Kids NE Florida, Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association NE Chapter.

Thank you for allowing me to be part of the Spotlight issue in May 2009.
