President's Message - Ed Perez
Ed Perez, FCHCC Director Education
"It's all about Chamber growth!", that was the headline theme for the FCHCC 2011 mid-year strategy meeting which took place
Sunday, May 15th. The meeting which was held at CSX corporate headquarters yielded a full day of brainstorming and prioritization that set the chamber's path for growth between now and 2016. The long-term strategy sets out to guarantee presence and representation of the Hispanic business community within our city.

Over 100 ideas were generated during this day long meeting.  Candid, strategic, and visionary thoughts were captured, debated, defended, sold or put to bed as we worked diligently to weave everyone's concept of the FCHCC of tomorrow. Our goal is to make a difference and to be the difference that will allow Hispanic business professionals to thrive within Jacksonville. In solidarity, each board member pledged full commitment to helping our chamber get to the next level.

As constituents and members to our chamber, we included you in the plan; first: as beneficiaries to what's to come; second: as an active participant in making the goals a reality. Like any organization, we can only be as good and strong as our people.  When we go into the community speaking about the needs of our small business owners or the needs of our large corporations who seek to partner with the Hispanic business community, we speak representing you, our members. When we go out into the community speaking about what the Hispanic chamber brings to the table in making Jacksonville a great city to live and work in, again we speak representing you, our members.

It is because of you and through you that the Chamber will become the organization we wish it to become. Our five-year plan provides the vision and the conviction that dreams can be achieved. Our role as a board is to inspire the power and energy to get the vision done.  If you want to find out more about how you can use your talents and experience to impact our goals, please contact me or any of your board members to get involved. Our reputation as the best Hispanic Chamber in Northeast Florida depends on all of us. On behalf of all our board members, we challenge you to get involved in this cause: "Our Cause" as a community.

Committee Happenings!

Our members play an integral role in this organization. Enhance your experience and get involved.

Programs Committee:

We are set to Implement 50/50: Move over Florida Lotto! The FCHCC Programs committee plans on spicing up everyone's luck during the monthly networking events by implementing a 50/50 raffle.  Yes that's correct, a 50/50 Raffle! Starting in June, members of the Programs committee will be available to sell numbered tickets to our guest. The more tickets we sell as a chamber the bigger the prize for the winning ticket. When the number is drawn 50% of all proceeds for the night will go to the person with the winning number. Cash will be the only accepted payment as we launch the new program, so don't forget to bring your dollar bills.

FCHCC partners with UNF for summer internship programs:
The FCHCC and the Programs Committee will head up a first ever summer Internship programs for UNF students. The FCHCC knows how vital students and young professionals are for the future of the chamber. The program which is a joint partnership between the UNF Career Management Center and the chamber will host 1 to 3 interns for the fall semester.  The interns will be used to work and move forward major projects for the chamber while providing vital work experience to business students. The project also hopes to attract more student members, which have historically enjoyed free membership to the chamber.
