President's Message

Hola FCHCC Members and Supporters:

This is an exciting time of year for the Chamber as we get into full swing with our programs and activities.

In April, the Business Luncheon was a huge success with Aundra Wallace from the Downtown Investment Authority providing some great insights on plans for the downtown area. We also hosted a workshop on How to Start Your Business. On the social side, in addition to our Professional Networking Event we also had the first Beaches Mixer which was a great time had by all who attended. Finally, leaders within the Hispanic community were invited once again to attend a meeting with Mayoral Candidate Lenny Curry to continue dialogue on issues affecting the Hispanic community. We were honored to be part of this group and ensured that the voices of our members were heard. We intend to continue this dialogue on your behalf.

May's Business Luncheon will be a change from the norm. We will have our first ever Power Networking Business Luncheon on May 19th so register early and bring plenty of business cards! We also have a Financial Workshop planned for you on May 27th at the Small Business Administration to help business owners understand their options when it comes to financing their businesses and operations. There will not be a Professional Networking Event in May but we do plan to have a Beaches Mixer on May 13th that will be a great opportunity to build relationships and meet new people.

By popular demand, the application period for the Achieving the Dream Scholarships has been extended (see Committee Happenings for details and spread the word). We are also underway on planning a fabulous Achieving the Dream Luncheon this Fall to celebrate these outstanding students and hear from a fabulous keynote speaker. There will be opportunities to sponsor, advertise and/or donate items for the guest bags to promote your businesses.

If you have not renewed your membership or are considering joining as a new member....it's a great time to be an FCHCC member!

Warmest regards,

Maribel Hernandez
